The Savage Gardener #98 - two more to go!

Well, we have two issues left and I just want to thank everyone who sent in a
reply to my leaving the SGer. Though I didn't reply to all the comments, I
just want you all to know that I appreciated each and every word. I wish
there was something I could give back to you! I'll try my hardest to make
these last issues as good as I can. In the meantime, guess who'll be
celebrating her Savage Anniversary on June 15th (Tuesday)? Me, of course!
<bows> This is the longest I've ever been a fan of something/one, I'm quite
proud of myself for not tossing them aside like I do everything else! But
then, they ARE different than anything else. Alrighty, on with the newsletter!

**No news again this week. Now I know why I'm quitting :D  This IS a
NEWSletter after all, and there's so news! I could make something up. Let's
see...Savage Garden hires unofficial newsletter writer person to work with
them on tour. Yeah! Perfect...

                                            Savage Trivia

Last week's trivia question was: In "The Animal Song" video, there's
something special about the band that appears in it. What is it? The answer
is, it's the band that appeared in "The Other Sister", of course! Congrats to
those who got it right:

This week's trivia question is brought to you by [email protected]: Daniel once
had an injured animal as a pet, which he kept in a box until it got better.
What was the animal?

I got this Jamiroquai newsletter thinger via email today and there was this
link to an exclusive part from a show in Japan. There was this one link there
which was a picture of Toby (keyboardist from Jamiroquai) and DJ D-Zire, who
I had never seen before but I had heard of. His real name is Darren, so out
of curiosity, I looked at the photo and what a weird resemblence to Darren
Hayes! Here's the URL for the pic:
http://www.jamiroquai.co.uk/jamiroquai/exclusive/greenwich/toby_and_darren.jpg
So I was thinking, well maybe we don't know everything about Mr Hayes, or I'm
just imagining the resemblence. There was another picture of him there, which
totally tore down all hope of Darren being a DJ (that would have been
funny...) and here's the other pic of him:
http://www.jamiroquai.co.uk/jamiroquai/exclusive/greenwich/dj_dzire_small.jpg
It still looks like him, but something is different about him when compared
to the true Mr Hayes. Tell me what you think! Am I going crazy?

Go look at this now!! This Darren looks just like our Darren - hair and
everything! ~Lauren :o)

Also, can you please put this in your next SGer?

Hi!
I still have a copy of the US TAS single (tracks-TAS album version, SM
bittersweet remix) that I'd like to sell.  It's still factory wrapped.
Please email me if you are interested in buying it, I promise I will get
back to you ASAP!  Please don't back out either, all other people who
said they wanted it did and it really got to me.  Thanks!

Lauren, I thank you so much for everthing!  I've been subscribed to the
SGer since December 98, and you have brought more things to me than all
mailing lists, etc.  I hope you make a decision that will make you very
happy!!

Dear Lauren!

First I'd like to say how sorry I am that you're gonna quit the
SG-er.... But I understand your decision, so I don't want you to feel
bad about it. Anyway, I think I have something to put in one of the
last issues, I was in my English class and looking for a poem to
recite, and I came across this poem:

I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and
self-contain'd,
I stand and look at them long and long

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning
things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of
years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth...

It's a poem by Walt Whitman and is a part of a loooooooong poem called
"Song of Myself". I thought it was kinda interesting!

[email protected]

I have to kill you now. Wait, I shouldn't say that - somebody will probably
track me down and I'll be featured on the news about kids in danger and how
online newsletters are influencing kids to shoot people. That was a sarcastic
comment towards all the fuss over media violence and stuff, in case you
couldn't tell :) Anyway, I said that because my English teacher (why do we
take that class anyway? We can speak the language!) is a psychotic crackhead
who's obsessed with Walt Whitman and has crammed every freakin' poem he's
ever written down our throats this entire year (all this transcendental
junk). So I told a friend that if I ever hear the name Walt Whitman again I'd
kill someone. I'd better stop before I do something I'll regret! ~Lauren :o)

today i was watching Much Music (canadian station) and the video for "She's
So High"  by um...something Bachman (i forgot his name) and in his band Ben
Carey (SG's old back up guitarest) was playing.  I seriously know it was him,
it wasn't just that he looked like him.  I think it's so cute though cause he
may not be in SG anymore but hes a really good musician and i'm so happy he's
in another back up band!

[email protected]

Awww, I miss the backup band!! They were the best - it'll be weird without
them. Hopefully Anna will do her CD like SG have dropped hints about. That
way we can at least hear her beautiful voice! ~Lauren :o)

**Don't forget, if you'd like to send in a comment for the very last SGer,
just let me know. And remember to specifically say that you want it in the
last SGer, otherwise I won't know whether or not to put it in. Thanks!

**This'll probably be the last "question" that I'll ask for feedback on!
Darren has supposedly stated that there will be no "Truly"-esque songs on the
new album. Is this a good or bad move? As we all know, "Truly" is the song
that skyrocketed them to stardom. Will the casual fans and general musical
public accept a CD sans love song, or has "The Animal Song", a preview of
what's to come, proven that they can make it with a different sound and don't
have to rely on their past works like so many artists today do? Second, we
all know that the new album is supposed to be a more depressing side to the
Savage Garden we know and love, and "The Animal Song" has been described as
the "happy ending" to the album. Will people accept their mood change as well
as no "Truly" songs?

That's it for this week! It's hard to believe there's only 2 more issues
left. I hope it's been as much fun for you as it has for me. I'll catch ya
next week! And by the time most of you will have read it, I'll be on summer
vacation! That is, if I SURVIVE finals and the last week of school...it
doesn't look good...

Peace, love, and Savage Garden!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Darren Hayes and/or Daniel Jones. I wish I did, but
since slavery isn't legal in the U.S. anymore, I'm outta luck. I make no
money for the "publication" of this newsletter, so if you're a nasty big
company like that dumb Hit Records, don't waste your time suing me
(especially since you're probably trying to get a chunk of Savage's earnings,
anyway). Besides, my life savings consist of $2.54. The program you have just
watched contains real-life stories. The names have been changed to protect
the innocent.
