Wow, looks like the school threats last Friday WERE a national thing.
Be
careful, everyone! In fact, my school got ANOTHER one, set for today,
actually, and then another one tomorrow. I think we should switch "As
American as apple pie" to "As American as high school shootings". Anyway,
on
a lighter note, have any of you (Americans) seen the new animated show
Family
Guy? I have to put something in here because the baby, Stewie, is my
new
idol! That kid is hilarious! For those who haven't seen it, he's set
on
taking over the world, he speaks with a British accent and an adult
voice,
and is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Upon finding out my best
friend is
as in love with Stewie as I am, we spent last Friday walking to our
5th
period class cracking up while mimicking Stewie's lines. Pointless
thing to
tell you, I know, but I LOVE THAT KID! If you haven't seen the show,
check it
out. I only watch it for Stewie, but he's reason enough! Stewie for
President!!

Savage Trivia
Last week's trivia question was: When Darren and Daniel were staying
in a
hotel on Sunset Blvd., they wanted to do something similar to the rock
star
stereotype of throwing a TV set out of the window. Not wanting to do
that
exactly, what did Darren do instead? The answer is, he threw a TV Guide
out
the window! That was clever, Darren! Anyhoo, congrats to the 8000 zillion
people who got it right:

Well, when I was in England last week I came across a special box edition
of
the AMERICAN Savage Garden CD. It comes with a disk of rare tracks,
including
some B-sides, re-mixes, 'All around me', and 'MINE!!!!!!!!'. It is
NOT the
imfamous Aussi box, but one released by COLUMBIA. It looks like a fat
American SG cd (the black and white design) and the cover's made out
of paper
not plastic. It cost 18 pounds (aprox. 35 dollars US) Looks like Columbia
is
loosing up on the whole "Mine" issue.
I'm feeling a bit of gloating coming along! Actually, I'm amazed that
Columbia included "Mine" on the disc! And I hope we can get this box
set
here! Ok, I have to go search the web to see if I can get it online!
I'd
better not...I already HAVE all the tracks! ~Lauren :o)

Hi. First I want to say that I've been getting your SG newsletter
for a long
time, but this is my first time sending feedback, and you do a good
job. :)
Anyway, I saw in your Savage Comments section about wondering if Darren
taped
the lyrics to the stage while performing, and he did do that at the
concert
here. In fact, he forgot the set list, and started introducing
"One of Us"
when it was supposed to be "Santa Monica" next in the set list.
He didn't
realize his mistake until Daniel gave him a funny look. He then
said that he
had to keep a list of the songs in front of him because "he sang the
songs,
but had no brains." I can't remember if that was exactly what
he said, but
it was close to that. Well, I just thought you might like to
know. :)
I have another email regarding this issue too (it'll be in this section
also)
- looks like that's just what it is...set lists! ~Lauren :o)
******************************************************************************
*******************
The paper taped to the floor is just the set list. Pretty much
all the band
members have one taped somewhere around them. When I went to
the concert, I
hung around at the end & asked if I could have one. A nice
guy in the crew
gave me Karl's (the drummer...of course) set list. Pretty nifty.
:-)
And here's the other one! Thanks to both of you for clearing up that
little
mystery! ~Lauren :o)
******************************************************************************
*******************
ok, Lauren, if you or any of your other readers have noticed.............but
that band ORGY has a guitarist who looks exactly like Daniel Jones.
I was
like ewww this guy has got to be the worst biter in the world. I mean
just
look at their blue monday video. It's a remake of New orders
hit but the guy
looks like daniel exactly.
it's something that takes time to notice but watch TRL for a week and
you'll
see. If you want to see the comparison email me at [email protected] and
I'll
email the pics to you. Really you'll see why i think they look aike
I have to agree with this one - the guy does look a LOT like Daniel
(but
Daniel's cuter!). ~Lauren :o)
******************************************************************************
*******************
hey Lauren!
guess what? I was at the book store and I noticed a Dawson's Creek
book.
Well, I love the show so I started flippin thru it. I got to
the back part
and they had a music section where they listed the songs featured in
each
episode. Of course they had SG for IWY and TMD. But here's
the really good
part...there's a pic of SG there!!!! Okay, so it's not a whole
page or
anything, but it's a concert pic. It's pretty close up and it
shows Daniel
on guitar and Darren singing near him/next to him. It's a pretty
big book,
not just one of those lil ones...it's a hardback. I'm not sure
if only a SG
fan would enjoy, but if you love Dawson's and SG, then I recommend
buying it
(ahem Dru! hehe). Okie, I think's that all I had to say.
laterz!
I watch the show, but only because I want to see where the storylines
go (the
show got way too ridiculous). Anyway, thanks for the info! ~Lauren
:o)

*******************
Lauren, I thought this may be an interesting addition to the
next SGer.
You will NEVER believe what happened today!!!!!!!!!!! I went to
"Islands of
Adventure" with my friend Brooke again, and as we were walking past
the
Spiderman ride
I saw a man who looked exactly like Darren Hayes (wearing a classic
black
shirt, blue jeans-shorts, and his black sunglasses--just like Darren's.)
sitting on the curb, waiting to go into the ride! When we first
walked by,
I did a double take, than as we took a few more steps, I looked again,
and
by the time that we were about 10 feet from him I stopped right in
the
middle of the walk, and just starred at him point blank. He was Darren's
clone! As I was starring at him (I embarassed Brooke so much
by doing this)
he looked over at us (I mean, how could you not notice two girls starring
at
you like you were the greatest being on Earth.) His facial features
were
perfect! So, with al this in mind, I wanted to go up to
him and ask if he
was indeed Darren (I mean, you never know. There has been a lot
a
celebrities at "Islands of Adventure" lately, Spielberg, Robin Williams,
Leo
DiCaprio, the Backstree Boys) and Savage Garden have been to the Magic
Kingdom before when they were in Orlando last July) so I thought that
I had
nothing to loose. Anyway, when I told Brooke that I was going
to comfront
him she went mad! She said that I was not going to do that in
her presence,
and she dragged me away (as I starred back at him.) I could not
beleive
that I possibly missed an opportunity to perhaps talk to Darren Hayes
himself.) As we went on the other rides, Brooke kept saying that
he was not
Darren, why would he be here. She said that I was obsessed, and
that Daniel
was not there , so why would Darren there? So, I quickly informed
her that
Daniel and Darren are not a couple, they do not go everywhere with
each
other! Gosh, non-Savage Fans can be so silly sometimes!
Anyway, as we went
on the coasters, all that I could talk about was the Darren-look-alike,
and
how much he looked like Darren, and that I HAD to go back and ask him.
Well, Brooke thought I was crazy! So, we went on a few more coasters,
and
about an hour later we went back to the Spiderman ride to see if the
Darren-look-alike was still there. However, he was not there.
Therefore,
we decided to go on the Spiderman ride, but there was a 60 minute wait,
so
we turned back to go back to the Hulk Coaster. However...as we
were walking
out of the Spiderman line, in comes the Darren look-alike! So,
I grabed
Brooke by the arm and dashed back into the Spiderman line, so we were
in
back of the Darren clone. With the wait being 60 minutes, I thought
that I
had plenty of time to talk to the Darren clone. However, I could
not! I
was so nervous, so I started talking to Brooke like a teenybopper!
The
whole time that we wre talking, the Darren look-alike kept glancing
at us
(Brooke said he was looking at me, but I could harldy notice, because
I was
too busy starring at him so much.) So, after about 20 minutes
of
'teenybopper' talking, I went to sit on the rail of the waiting line--and
I
slipped and as I slipped a hand caught ahold of my arm, and secured
my place
on the railing, keeping me from falling. When I saw who it was
I was about
in panic shock, it was the Darren look-alike. He
asked us if we had been
on the Spiderman ride before, and we said yes, and he continued to
ask about
the park and the rides that we liked best. (He did not have an
Australian
accent, just plain American, but his features, his eyes especially
were just
like Darrens! Even his short black hair and sideburns and perfect
smile!)
Anyway, moving on...we talking about the theme park for a while, than
he
asked us if we lived arond here (becuse we knew so much about the theme
parks) and we said yes, and he proceeded to inform us that he lives
in
Oregon and before that in California, and that he is currently on vacation
and staying with 'friends.') He was so nice! He asked about
our ages (we
are 18, he is 23) and about our interests (I'm going to be an actor,
so that
is where the conversation went) therefore, we talked about the upcoming
"StarWars" movie, and how great it will be. With talking to the
Darren
clone the line went very quick, and before we knew it we were getting
our
3-D glasses and getting onto the ride (with the Darren clone!)
(OH...I
should of mentioned this sooner, but he was there alone!) After
the ride, I
asked him if he liked it, and he said yes. Than as he was about
to walk
away, I shouted out "I have to ask you, but, did anyone ever tell you
that
you look exactly like Darren Hayes from Savage Garden?" And it's
a bit
blury (I'm still in panic shock) but he said, "Savage Garden...they
sing
that one song, Truly Madly"...and I finished it with "deeply!"
And he said
that no one has ever said that to him before, but he knows who Savage
Garden
our and he likes the video for "Truly Madly Deeply." He was very
gracious
when I asked him the "Darren" question, and he even smiled and seemed
flattered. So, that is my very special encounter with the perhaps
Darren
Hayes. I never got his name, but he looked "TOO" much like Darren,
not to
be....
******************************************************************************

Lauren, I have to tell you. At the chat with Darren, when he
said about the
new album being electronic, I thought of something interesting.
Maybe they
are experimenting with new sounds. It's kind of cool to get interesting
sounds mixed together you know? Also, when he said that
Madonna's "Ray of
Light" album influenced a lot of it, well I have to say this.
When I first
heard Madonna's songs, they honestly sounded like Savage Garden type
music!
Is that weird or what? I remember thinking, Savage Garden would
do this type
and Darren could sing this music beautifully! I was thinking
that Madonna
was influenced by Savage Garden! LOL I know it's wierd.
But that's
honestly what I thought!
SOB! There's that electronics again!! I have the interview on tape where
they
say they don't like to rely on electronics. Oh well, "The Animal Song"
totally kicked and that was electronic. More so than anything they've
ever
done before, although I'll miss the style they used on the debut album.
I
just hope it doesn't sound too much like Madonna...I've never liked
the "Ray
of Light" song, although "Frozen" was okay, and I LOVED "The Power
of
Goodbye". Great song! Obviously I have to give it/them a chance, starting
with the new single which will hopefully surface in July. Someone tell
me it
won't be a techno album. Because that's what I think of when I hear
"electronics". ~Lauren :o)

**If you're doing the Savage Garden Musical, send any and all questions
to
Brittany ([email protected]) ONLY. I asked her if she would mind being
in charge
of all the questions that you have, so please email her if you need
anything.
If you're a new subscriber and have no idea what I'm talking about,
read
below.
**Alright, all you aspiring writers. As you all know, I'm preparing
for a
couple months of an "empty" SGer prior to the release of the new Savage
Garden single and album. So in an attempt to spice things up a bit,
a fellow
reader came up with a brilliant idea. Brittany ([email protected]) suggested
that
we have a Savage Garden Musical contest, inspired by the whole "Mine",
"Break", "Words" trilogy. Rather than a trilogy, she suggested people
write a
musical built around Savage Garden songs. If you're interested in writing
a
play-like script, email me for all the rules. We're thinking of having
the
due date in the middle of July, so you'll have plenty of time to work
on it.
Don't ask for the rules unless you're honestly interested and really
want to
do it, as Brittany and I want to have a grasp on how many entries we'll
have.
Now c'mon SGer readers! I've been really disappointed with the lack
of
participation lately! Give me back my faith in you by joining in!
**The transcript to the AOL chat (it was just Darren, by the way) should
be
up in about a week. For some reason, AOL takes forever getting those
up. I'll
stick it in the SGer as soon as I get it (even though it's copyrighted.
Don't
report me!).
That's it for this week! Not much here, unforunately. I could stick
another
comment about Stewie, but I won't. Also, I've had my Instant Messages
on AOL
turned off for a while, so if you're trying to reach me but never see
me on,
that's why. An email would probably be the best chance. One more happy
birthday to Darren, and I'll catch ya later!
Peace, love, and Savage Garden!
