The Savage Gardener #92
For once in my life, I have nothing to say here. Actually, it's on only
Tuesday so maybe by Thursday I'll have something to say. So I'll leave
this
area blank for now. Ok, I have something to say now, brought on by
two emails
from a couple friends. There are rumors at both their schools that
there will
be bomb threats and shooters at every school in Virginia tomorrow (Friday).
She didn't know if it was a national thing, but I found out today that
supposedly my school will get a bomb threat tomorrow also. What the
&#@! is
going on here?? Did Littleton release ALL the demons in our country's
psychopaths or what?? Anyway, if your school has rumors about that
too and
you're going tomorrow, be careful. Who knows whether or not to take
these
things seriously anymore...

**"The Animal Song" is down to #13 on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 this week.
**Here's some info led to me by [email protected]. This is from an "article"
on
Billboard's website.
TRULY MADLY DEEPLY LONGLY: Remember Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply"
(Columbia)? Well, how can you forget it when it won't go away? The
track is
still on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart in its 68th week. That
passes
the 67-week mark of second-place longevity champ Sophie B. Hawkins'
"As I Lay
Me Down." But the Australian duo will have to remain on the chart another
14
weeks to beat the all-time champ. Eric Clapton's "Change The World"
holds the
record with an 81-week run.
The guys have to hang on just a little longer to make yet ANOTHER record.
Go
"Truly"!!! (And I HATE that Eric Clapton song anyway, so that makes
me root
for them harder!)
**Bad news for those of you who had your heart set on seeing Darren
this
Friday on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher (like me). The PI people
said
that Darren won't be appearing due to scheduling conflicts, but that
he will
be appearing from mid to late summer. Thanks to [email protected] for
the
info, and her theory that's probably correct: "...maybe they're really
busy
trying to get the album done and the soonest time he'll be able to
appear is
when it's just about finished, which would be in mid to late summer,
and
maybe when they're going around promoting the new album on talk shows
and
stuff." Sounds probable to me! Thanks for the info, and here's
another
couple months of no Savage.

Savage Trivia
Last week's trivia question was: What has Darren said is the worst interview
they ever had to do? The answer is, they were interviewed by a monkey
puppet
in the UK. Darren said it was really embarrassing and that they were
going to
write a song about it (which was what I thought "The Animal Song" was
going
to be about before I heard it). Anyway, congrats to those who got it
right:

This week's quessie is: When Darren and Daniel were staying in a hotel
on
Sunset Blvd., they wanted to do something similar to the rock star
stereotype
of throwing a TV set out of the window. Not wanting to do that exactly,
what
did Darren do instead?

hey.. the answer to last weeks trivia question... the thing about taping
the
lyrics at his feet.. well in the hard rock live thing, there was a
piece of
paper taped on the ground by the microphone stand.. were those the
lyrics, do
you know?? maybe he still does it! lol ok i'm done..
:)
Oooh!!! Good observation!! Anyone else notice this?? I'll have to watch
it to
see if I can figure it out! ~Lauren :o)

SG was included in a compilation of love songs in Brazil. Guess what
song ???
Of course it was Truly Madly Deeply
The name of the compilation is Break your heart
They are along with many other artists, like Mariah Carey(uhhh) , Tony
Braxton,
etc.
That's so cool! And I just finished a unit on Brazil in history class
:)

hey Lauren!
Guess what? Our Savage guys are in Teen Beat. I was flipping
thru mags at
the book store and flipped out when I saw their pic! LoL
Anyhoo, it's the
July issue, and the headline reads: Savage Garden Meets The Other Sister.
There's a pic [it's old, but a very good one! one'a my personal
faves]
Anyhoo, here's the mini article:
If a bittersweet comedy about two mentally challenged teens (Juliette
Lewis
and Giovanni Ribisi) who fall in love isn't enough to make you go see
The
Other Sister, then maybe the fact that Savage Garden's long-awaited
new
single is on the soundtrack of the film will! "The Animal Song"
is the
Aussie duo's first new release since their debut album, and their second
album is only now being recorded. Guitarist Daniel Jones wrote
and recorded
the music for "The Animal Song" in Brisbane, Australia and sent the
computer
discs to vocalist Darren Hayes in New york, so he could write the lyrics
and
do the vocals!
And that's the end. Hope you enjoyed =) TTYL!

*******************
The other night I was flipping through channels on the tv and stopped
for
some reason on Melrose Place, well, the scene was in a bar and there
was a
band playing, I was trying to tell if it was a real band or just actors
when
I see WHO as the guitarist?!? None other than BEN CAREY, the
infamous
ex-guitarist for SG !! So, does this mean he is now in a new
band???
Wow!! That's so weird!!! I guess he is in a new band now. I hope the
next
band will be as good as the previous. I loved them so much!! ~Lauren

hey everyone in the savage gardener!
i've been online quite a while, but now i'm moving (friday april 30th)
and
i'm gonna miss everyone. whoever knows me i was wondering if
you could
please send me your address (only if you'd like) and your e-mail address
so
when i'm back online i can contact you. if anyone else would
like to e-mail
me and tell a bit about yourselves i would really appreciate it and
i would
write to you. i'm a huge savage fan and i like to talk about
anything that
has to do with savage garden and/or darren. i'm ilianna and my
e-mail addy
is "[email protected]" please e-mail me before friday april 30th.
ONE MORE THING
-when "the animal song" came out i would always hear it on STAR 98.7
and on
102.7 KIIS FM (i'm from california, by the way, kinda close to los
angeles),
but now i don't hear it as much. so i would really appreciate,
and sure that
our savages would appreciate as well, if you could please maybe call
those
two radio station and request "the animal song" once in a while.
it's a toll
free number and it's : (for STAR 98.7) (800)7827-987 and (for 102.7
KIIS FM)
(800)520-1027. On STAR 98.7 not only do they play "the animal
song" they
also play "truly madly deeply" (regular and star lounge performance)
and "i
want you" (regular and star lounge performance). so you can request
any song
you want! it's just so they know that savage garden are very
loved and so
they know that they should bring svage garden to the station or to
do another
star lounge performance for the animal song! if you don't think
you can
benefit any from it, well, if they have an interview on the station
and i
tell you guys i will send you a copy of it! the requests on KIIS
FM may be
more important that the ones for STAR 98.7 coz on that station the
count the
votes towards the Rick Dees top 40 countdown and that i believe you
can all
here, even if you live in aussie! KIIS FM is usually busy so
if you get
tired of trying you can just go ahead and request it online on <www.rick.com>
and you can easily drop rick a line or the staff! you can also
vote for the
song there! that would really make a change with the fact that
savage garden
were last at #11 and have dropped 2 to #13. tell rick and the
staff how much
you love the song! WE HAVE TO MAKE THEM #1 ON THE TOP 40 SINCE
WE DIDN'T GET
THEM ON TOTAL REQUEST! PLEASE EVERYONE HELP. if you know
anyone that
doesn't get the savage gardener than please let them know also.
if you'd like i can call your radio stations as well, just let me know
the
number! or the site!
now, for STAR, their phome line is usually never busy so let's make
it busy
by requesting the savage songs all the time!
i have arranged a date and time where we can request the song on either
station so they get a whole buch of requests and they mention it on
the air!
they won't believe it! how about starting on wednesday april
28th or the
following wednesday (according to when lauren writes the nest gardener)
and
start requesting around 5PM (keep in mind i'm referring to the time
in
southern california) maybe you can figure out what time is it where
you are
or just request it when it's five where you are! this would make
me really
happy as well as the other fans that live around here! and then
from that
wednesday on we can just request it all the time...or work out another
time!
SORRY, ONE MORE THING TO SAY AND I BET YOU THIS WILL BE IT!
PLEASE VOTE FOR "THE ANIMAL SONG" VIDEO ON <www.foxfamilychannel.com>
for the
fox kids top 10
ok, well that's all...FINALLY!

This is a message that you may want to consider posting, for the good
of SG.
Sherry and I, from Savage Madness, were sent an e-mail from an online
poster company called allwall wanting us to advertise their SG
posters on our page, in return for commission sales. We contacted
the fanzine, to see if this company was selling these posters legally
or not (considering everywhere you look the fanzine is saying that
they're the only place for official SG merchandise), and after
inquiries were made to SG's legal department, it was determined that
they are selling these posters illegally. If you or someone you
know
runs a webpage and was approached by these people, this is just a
warning that the posters are not being legally sold and supporting
them on your/their webpage is not helping or supporting SG in any
way, shape, or form.
And if I ever ask any of you for money, just tell me to bug off :) Thanks
for
the warning, Bonnie, and if anyone wants to check out Savage Madness,
here's

**If you're doing the Savage Garden Musical, send any and all questions
to
Brittany ([email protected]) ONLY. I asked her if she would mind being
in charge
of all the questions that you have, so please email her if you need
anything.
If you're a new subscriber and have no idea what I'm talking about,
read
below.
**Alright, all you aspiring writers. As you all know, I'm preparing
for a
couple months of an "empty" SGer prior to the release of the new Savage
Garden single and album. So in an attempt to spice things up a bit,
a fellow
reader came up with a brilliant idea. Brittany ([email protected]) suggested
that
we have a Savage Garden Musical contest, inspired by the whole "Mine",
"Break", "Words" trilogy. Rather than a trilogy, she suggested people
write a
musical built around Savage Garden songs. If you're interested in writing
a
play-like script, email me for all the rules. We're thinking of having
the
due date in the middle of July, so you'll have plenty of time to work
on it.
Don't ask for the rules unless you're honestly interested and really
want to
do it, as Brittany and I want to have a grasp on how many entries we'll
have.
Now c'mon SGer readers! I've been really disappointed with the lack
of
participation lately! Give me back my faith in you by joining in!
**In the last issue I mentioned rewriting "The Animal Song" to "The
Cannibal
Song" because so many people think that's what they're saying. Well,
[email protected] sent me a song that she had found on a newsgroup
a while
ago that did just that. After getting permission from the author
([email protected]) to post it, here it is! It's a little graphic, but
it
cracked me up!
Ok, you may all think I am sick and insane (you know me too well), but
I read
a post from a person that said that they could've sworn the words to
"The
Animal Song" was "I want to live like cannibals" and thought it would
be
funny if some one rewrote the song with those lyrics...well I took
matters
into my own hands and did just that...yes I know...I have no life...enjoy
:o).........
"The Cannibal Song"
By [email protected]
When murders and cannibals are running through your head
Old people with guns at your doorstep, wishing you were dead
Cannibals makes me nervous, people biting on my ear
I've got to break away
Before I shed another tear
Chorus:
'Cause I want to live like cannibals
Unsanitary and free like cannibals
I want to live
I want to chew on someone's arm
With toes in my mouth and blood on my feet
I don't have any difficulties eating human flesh
Elbows and kneecaps better with some ketchup
Animals and children are too hard, they never die
Which one is more edible
There's a thought, now let's go eat an eye
Compassion while I eat you
Compassion while I chew, yeah
Can I eat you like a cheeseburger
Can I make a sandwich out of you, yeah
Chorus
Sometimes this life can get you hungry
It's so amusing
There's so many arms to swallow
And I just eat it
'Cause I put you in a microwave
When murders and cannibals are running through your head
Old people with guns at your doorstep, wishing you were dead
Animals and children are too hard, they never die
Which one is more edible
There's a thought, now let's go eat an eye
Compassion while I eat you
Compassion while I chew, yeah
Can I make a sandwich out of you
Can I bite a piece of your hand, yeah
Chorus (repeat to fade)
Ok...now you MUST think I'm one sick individual...but no...I'm just
a guy
with WAY too much time on his hands :o)
P.S. (No animals were harmed in any way, shape, or form in the creation
of
this cannibalistic song)
John
<inserts applause here> For coming up with this amazing re-write,
the Savage
Gardener has donated to John a free stay in a mental hospital! Perhaps
the
same one the boys of 'N Sync are staying in in their new video :)
**If you live outside the U.S. and Australia (and Canada), and you receive
the Official Savage Garden Fanzine, please email [email protected]
and
so she can ask a question that's really important to her. Thanks from
both of
us!
That's it for this week!
Peace, love, and Savage Garden!
