The Savage Gardener #82
My agony is over...in case you remember my panic last week about whether
or
not Alex Krycek would survive the Valentine's Day Massacre on the X-Files,
he
did <insert HUGE sigh of relief here>. But the ending was so incredibly
depressing. Anyhoo, before I start babbling on THAT, I'll introduce
some
AWESOME news from [email protected] sent me a review that Billboard
Magazine had on "The Animal Song" and I must say this...I'm so proud
of what
they've done, and the Billboard review's last sentence puts it best:
"Talk about an easy radio add. This first cut recorded by Savage
Garden since
it's 10 million selling 97 debut is a breezy uptempo gem that absolutely
shimmers with vitality and a bounty of hooks. The first single
from the
upcoming film "The Other Sister" is so catchy and smart, in fact, that
there's
not a plausible reason why every top 40, hot ac, and adult top 40 station
in
the nation won't be turning this into the next A list song in about
two
shakes.....Columbia should be happy with its investment: It sounds
like these
guys are going to be around for a good long while."
Congratulations, Darren and Daniel. You made it, guys!!!!
Thanks again to [email protected] for sending this to me! I appreciate
it,
Eric (who is our official review-watcher now!).

**Get that money out..."The Animal Song" single hits stores this Tuesday,
February 23rd (in America AND Australia, most likely Canada too). In
fact,
Sarah told me that stores in Brisbane are actually offering people
the chance
to pre-order the song!!!!! And you can see what the cover looks like
at
www.savagegarden.com and the cover is great!!!! Ladies, you have been
warned...this new pic will constitute a lot of drool, so please try
not to
drown your city (I know from experience...my apologies to the people
of Orange
County!). Anyhoo, on a more serious note the guys look the same yet
different.
I know that sounds dumb, but just work with me here. Enjoy it!

Savage Trivia
Last week's trivia question was: Where was the American "Moon" video
filmed
(the original one)? The answer is in Malibu, California, in the home
of an
architect (Note to self: Drive out to Malibu and search for house).
Anyhoo,
some of you weren't *exactly* right, but you got the basic idea so
I included
some anyway. Congrats to those who got it right!

Hi Lauren, I must say the Savage Gardener is really great! The
news is really
useful. Some news about the animal song. It's actually being
played here in
Arkansas! Last night on the top 5 it was the feature song of the night!
And I
heard it this morning on the radio as well. I'll probably get
some hate mail
from this next thing. I have seen some previews for 'The Other Sister'
and I
don't like it at all. I don't think we all have to go see it just because
SG's
song is on there. I would be just as well satisfied with the soundtrack
or the
single.
Glad you like the SGer! And I'm also glad to know that the song is doing
well
where you live! I can't tell you how many times I've read that it's
doing well
in someone's area - it's great! And as for your comment about the movie,
I
don't think you'll get hate mail for that! It's your opinion, and you
have a
right to express it. I agree with you about what you said though (half
of it,
anyway) - that we shouldn't go see the movie just because it has the
song in
it. But I really honestly think the movie looks cute, and I would probably
go
see it whether SG's song was in it or not. You remember that movie
"Music From
Another Room" that has "Truly" in it? Well, I didn't rent it for a
looong time
because I didn't know much about it and the storyline I had heard before
(a
dysfunctional family or something like that) didn't interest me much.
But I
read a review on it in a magazine and it sounded cute, and Sarah told
me that
it was a great movie, so I rented it and absolutely fell in love with
it.
Great movie! Thanks for your comments! ~Lauren :o)

Great piece of news !!!!!! "Moon" entered the French Hit Machine's
Chart at
#11 !!!!! Even "Truly" didn't manage such an entry (entered at #13)
!!!
And a German movie had "Truly" as soundtrack... For those understanding
German, the title of the movie was "Die Hurenstreik"..... But, happilly,
the title had nothing to relate with the movie : actually it was a
beatiful
love story.... So, "Truly" passed 100% to it !!!!
For those wanting "Moon" CDs from France, I can still get them for
$10....
Let me know at [email protected]
and visit my site at http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/ayers/222/sam.html
The sad thing is that in France they still don't know what "The Animal
Song" is.....
But guess, how astonished I was when I found 2 posters in a French
store
with Savage Garden on them !!!!!!!! You can't even imagine how loud
I
yelled when I saw them!!!
Well, Lauren, I'm happy the SGer carries on being soooooo good !!!
If there are people in San Diego, LA or Phoenix who would like to meet
me,
e-mail me...

Could u put that and all the other things i sent you in the next Savage
Gardener!!
In Quebec at CKOI they did a contest between 2 songs and people voted
for the
best it was The Animal Song against Everlast and Savage Garden won!!!
At
musiqueplus there was a countdown for the sexiest artist and Savage
Garden was
at #12 ou of 20 wouhou!!!

Hey Lauren !!
Thanks for the huge loaded SGer !! I really appreciated
it !
Anyway, I thought that B*Witched thingy was quite funny....and
if
anyone is interested, their site address is :
http://www.b-witched.com/
Also, I've been listening and looking around Ireland about "The
Animal
Song"......Not much going on here yet, but I think that when the movie
gets released, I'll hopefully hear the song heaps ! (though I
have it
on WAV format on the comp)......But the nicest thing on Valentine's
Day
was that on a music show, they played TTM+B......and y'see, they don't
play SG over here much.....so that is a real treat !!!
Anyone who doesn't know, there's a bit of an old interview with
SG on
an Irish Radio Startion Site, 2Fm at http://www.2fm.ie
I think it's
under "Entertainment".....
Thanks !!!!!!
Keep up the Cool Work with SGer !!!!!
I Love It !!!!!!!!!
I'm going to check out B*witched's site right now to see who I can complain
about for stealing my name!!!! ~Lauren :o)

i just read the part about the savage garden license plate... well
i got a
license plate frame made for me, and i getting one made to send to
the Fanzine
and its says on the bottom "CHIC-CHERRY-COLA" It looks sweet
on the back of
my black 66 mustang. So hopefully it could be an item you can
purchase from

That is so cool!!!! I'm sure the Fanzine people will love it! ~Lauren :o)

Lauren,
Just another fan project to let you and the
SGer readers in on. An
SG fan that I met over the net that I've become fast friends with has
a
Savage Garden Scrapbook Project (part 2). The first book was
presented
to the Guys in person and they loved it; so she's following it up with
a
sequel. She's helped me advertise the Quilt thru snail-mail,
so I've
done a website for her to get participants from cyberworld. Its
a nice
crossover. The addy for the page is below; any email regarding
the
scrapbook can either be sent to me or to Courtney herself at
[email protected]. Thank you!

They also have the Animal Song single for $2.99!! ;o)
That's great news!! As you all know, my last $20 was sealed away for
the new
SG album, so I'm cleaning the entire house this weekend and my mom's
going to
pay me by buying me the single (I seriously need to get a job...Hey
Savage
Garden! I'm getting good at cleaning. I'll clean your tour bus!). When
the
"Truly Madly Deeply" single came out last year, the people at the music
store
were still taking it out of the box when I got there...wonder if that'll
happen again! Anyhoo, I also need to get that "I Want You '98" single
for the
karaoke version of "To the Moon and Back"... ~Lauren :o)

**Don't forget about the Savage Quilt!! Check out the page for more details:

And here's another Savage site for your web surfing enjoyment:

**An SGer reader has set up a GREAT chat page where all of you can chat
to one
another! I've checked it out many times, and now Michelle
([email protected]), the chat site's creator, is prepared to open
it to
everyone. The channel opening party is set for this Friday, Feb. 19th
at 6pm
PST but unfortunately I won't be able to make it since my family and
I are
leaving to go up to my grandpa's house because he's in bad health.
You can get
to the chat site by either going to the Savage Gardener site, or go
directly
at http://www.enter.net/~sipsters/sger/ Be sure to check
it out and go back
often! Have fun, and MANY thanks to Michelle for starting this for
us!!
**The Savage Gardener's website has undergone a major re-vamp now that
Sarah's
returned to Brisbane! Be sure to check out her special background in
tribute
to the release of "The Animal Song"! Welcome back, Sarah!!
That's it for this week! Don't forget that "The Animal Song" will be
in stores
February 23rd. However, don't expect this to be so in ALL areas. Some
places
are weird about when CDs are released, so it'll vary. Also, please
don't email
me and ask when the CD will be released in your area if you don't get
it on
Tuesday. I have noooooo idea - remember, I'm just an ordinary fan (note
here:
my favorite thing is when people ask what's new with Darren or Daniel.
I love
it - it's like people actually think I'm friends with the guys or something!).
The only way I can possibly know when the single will be released in
other
areas are when people who live there let me know. So just sit tight...it'll
get there eventually! In the meantime, those who do get the single,
ENJOY IT!
:)
Peace, love, and Savage Garden!
