The Savage Gardener #80
It's been a week since "The Animal Song" was released (only to a few
select
states; the single has not yet been released nationally or world-wide).
I have
a little info about the release dates, etc. and those will be in the
news
section. Anyway, I did manage to type up the lyrics for you all,
so those are
in this issue. However, I did hear that the lyrics I typed up are floating
around the internet so you most likely got them by now! But just in
case...!
And there are TONS of news this week!!!! The SGer is beginning to feel
complete again! Big shock though - all has to do with "The Animal Song"!!

**I just found out that the single will be IN STORES on February 23rd.
However, if for some reason or other the single isn't released where
you are,
you can still get the soundtrack to "The Other Sister", which will
be released
March 2nd.
**Commercials for "The Other Sister" are well into advertising. The
newer
commercials now include "With music by Savage Garden" in it, along
with other
artists that are featured on the soundtrack.
**More dirt on the song - it WAS written exclusively for the movie.
I didn't
see how a song about animals could fit in with a movie like that, but
I
definitely see the connection now and it totally fits. For those who
have no
idea what the movie is about, it's about two young retarded people
who fall in
love while the girl tries to break away from her extremely overprotective
mother. It sounds like a really cute story and "The Animal Song" is
perfect
for it!

I'm in
the process of downloading the song right now, though I have no idea
why!
Probably because it's easier to listen to it on the computer rather

**For you residents in BRISBANE, listen to B105 on February 5th to hear
"The
Animal Song". I don't know exactly when it's supposed to air, but you
can
listen to the radio station (as I do frequently!) by going to www.b105.com.au
Thanks to our webmistress, Sarah, for providing the info, even though
she is
sadly away from Brisbane at the moment and won't be back until later
this
month. So if you've been trying to reach her, which I know quite a
few of you
have, I'll let you know once she gets back.

Last week's trivia question was: "I'll Bet He Was Cool" was originally
a
completely different song. What was the title? The answer is "She"
- the guys
realized at the last minute that they didn't like the song so Daniel
added a
drum beat and some new chords while Darren wrote new lyrics. By 3am
it became
"Cool". I managed to stump you! Nobody even tried to guess!

So, dear Savage Garden fans, how do you find The Animal Song ??????
I
personnally think it's going to be a HUGE HIT worldwide !!!!! Even
in
Europe, coz the melody is sooooooooooooooo amazing and entertaining
!!!!!!!!! When you hear it, you just wanna push everything away and
begin
to dance like animals ! lol
The lyrics are soooo funny I think, but also soooo ..... yeah, just
COOL !!

And what do you all think about it ? Do we all agree on this point:
this
song is very good (even better than only "good", but.... ) and again
the
boys show us that none of their song sounds like another ! lol

Darren and Daniel (perhaps should I have put Dan 1st, coz it's 1st

I have a good feeling about this song as well. I honestly don't understand
how
Darren and Daniel can keep every single one of their songs from sounding
even
remotely close to another. However, I think it's both the music AND
the lyrics
that make the song so great (favorite part: "Sometimes this life can
get you
down...it's so confusing...there's so many rules to follow...and I
feel
it...'cause I just run away in mind"). But I've been wondering about
the video

**A lot of you have been asking what "The Animal Song" sounds like so
I'll see
how I can do with descriptions! It has a LOT of drumbeats, and they
have a
kind of ghostly sound to it. It has a very "jungley" feel to it (you'll
see
why in the lyrics), and is also a song that will make you want to get
up and
dance. I definitely hear something in this song that I haven't heard
in any
others. And also...remember the Savage Song Awards?? Well, this one
might
replace "All Around Me" as the winner of which song best displays Darren's
amazing vocal range! That guy can go as high as I can!! Anyway, here

**We haven't had a serious discussion for a while! I was talking to
my friend
Rob ([email protected]) this week and he was telling me about how
some girl
was saying that if Daniel got married, "he sucks". Keep in mind, this
is a so-
called SG fan. My question is this: why in the WORLD do people put
the basis
of their fandom on the celeb's marital status?? Does their personal
life make
any difference as to how their music sounds like (ok, I admit, I'd
be a LITTLE
turned off if they were the typical drugged-out jerks that a lot of
musicians
are). But regarding marital status and stuff - that's just ridiculous
and
immature! Right?! And if you agree with that girl...well then, as I
told Rob,
you deserve to be smashed in the head with a 2000000000000 pound boomerang!!!
Cruel, yes. But I can't tell you how much it disgusts me when SG "fans"
obsess
too much about who Darren and Daniel are with romantically than their
music.
Any thoughts on this?
**Attention Savage Gardeners! Have you ever come across someone online
claiming to be the Great Darren Hayes or the Great Daniel Jones? Chances
are,
you have. Well, my buddy [email protected] has come up with
the PERFECT way
to tell the however many Darrens and Daniels are lurking online to
PROVE that
they're the Savage one. In other words, you can pretty much let them
know you
know it's not really him/them. A direct quote: "This one's pretty convincing..
and I for a while thought it was them and I asked them to take a pic
of them
holding a sign with my name on it to prove it and they said they would
and
haven't responded to me since." <Stands up and applauds> You're
brilliant! I'm
definitely going to use this next time I come across one!
**I know I've talked to quite a few of you out there about the possibility
of
my quitting the SGer after this week, and that those of you who did
get my
original email passed to you about the lyrics saw my little note about
feeling
guilty about quitting the SGer, so I figured I'd type up the lyrics
to make
everyone happy in the next issue. But I thought I'd let those of you
I DID
talk to know that I've decided not to quit after all.

seem to
be full of stuff, unlike the last few months? Probably because Darren's
and
