The Savage Gardener #79

The SGer comes out a little early tonight because I need to make one last cram
session for my biology final tomorrow. Anyway, my attempt to get the real
story behind "chic-a-cherry cola" still has gone unanswered. I have half the
people who responded telling me that Darren made it up, and the other half
saying he stuttered and it stuck! Guess I'll have to wait until they come back
here for a tour and I can sneak backstage and ask him myself (I'm joking! I'd
never really try that). Thanks to those who did respond, though!

**I've heard from many different people that the title of "The Animal Song"
has been changed to "We Want to Live Like Animals". I have no idea if it's
true or not, but I'll see if I can find out. Though the supposedly new title
makes it a bit easier figuring out what the song's about!

**I have a release date for "The Animal Song" in Australia! Aussies should
keep an ear open for the song starting February 5th! Thanks to
[email protected] for the info! However, I've heard that we're all supposed
to get the song at the same time, so hopefully this goes for everyone!!

**A release date for Canada has also been announced (sort of). If you live in
the Quebec area, you can hear "The Animal Song" broadcast on February 1st on a
morning show between 6 and 9am. For those not in Quebec, you can hear it at
http://www.ckoi.com/live/liveckoi.ram if you have Real Audio. If anyone
manages to hear it, please email me and tell me what it sounds like!

                                            Savage Trivia

Last week's trivia question was: How did Daniel's brother discover that Daniel
was playing with his drum set when he wasn't allowed to? The answer
is...little Daniel didn't put the drum sticks in the exact same place!

This week's quessie is: "I'll Bet He Was Cool" was originally  a completely

When I first heard the title of the single being "The Animal Song," I just
really laughed and thought it was odd... because the first thing that comes to
mind is some old guy saying "This is a chicken cluck cluck" on those little
see-n-say thingers that EVERYONE had when they were little (don't deny it,
everyone had one :). And, well, I just can't hear Darren and Daniel making
music to "this is a cow mooo." (but it would be absolutely HILARIOUS!!) I
think their creativity goes a bit deeper than that. So, once I think about it
and think about what I know of the guys, I'm thinking something maybe Tears of
Pearls-ish in the beat (but definately NOT the same, cos no two songs of
theirs sound the same. It would just have the same kinda feel). The title I
think may mean animals as in humans, and the way human behaviour often
resembles that of lesser civilized species. Y'know? Maybe it's a song with a
real meaning (not to say that their songs are shallow cos they are so NOT
shallow, that is the opposite of what I'm saying... I mean that it has a
meaning like in Jamiroquai's music, anti-war, anti-drugs, save the
environment...). Understand? I really haven't the foggiest idea what this song
is going to be like, but if someone held a gun to my head (which you so
graciously didn't do) asking for an explination, that's what I'd give them.
Those are my hard-to-decipher thoughts :) (so my brain is a bit fried. it's
exam week!!).

[email protected]

Wow, that's a VERY deep perception! If that's what the song turns out like,
I'm going to be emailing you for psychic readings! And yes, I did have one of
those "a cow goes moo" things! Except mine was Sesame Street, I think. I'm
actually surprised about Jamiroquai though...ever since they first appeared
I've always heard about what a major drug addict the lead singer is! ~Lauren

hey

your finals start next week? i just got through 14 hours of 7 finals...
anyway, for the ebay auctions, i am a member of ebay and i regularly bid/buy
stuff on there. if there is an SG fan that wants something on ebay, i may be
able to arrange a deal with that person. This is for those who are under 18,
and dont have an account with ebay.
Just thought i could offer some help to SG fans!
Anyway keep up the good work

[email protected]

Ahhh yes...by the time most of you read this, I will be finished with my
finals. However, as I type this I have one more left. Isn't there a place
where you can hire someone to take them for you?? They're pointless, they just
add more stress to what we already have! Anyhoo, that's a good idea about
ebay! ~Lauren :o)

Hi, the other day i was begging my friend to teach me how to play I'll Bet He
Was Cool on her keyboard, and well, we figured some of it out, but other parts
just dont sound right.  If any of you have any idea where you could possibly
get me the music for that and any other Savage Garden songs i would be forever
grateful!  And on top of that, i may not play the piano but i do play mallet
instuments like Xylophones, and Vibraphones and sorts so if i figure this out
i may really impress my percussion instructor at school! Who knows! in a year
or two my school just might be doing a field show (thats like marching band
stuff for those who dont know) of a selection of Savage Garden songs! I think
it could be done...

Well if you knwo of any sites that have the music, please Email me at
[email protected]  Thank you so very much

Hello! I was wondering if you could ask people what band/group they think is
the least like Savage Garden (like, someone thinks Green Day is the most
different from Savage Garden) and have the answers sent to me. I want to do
something with it for my site. Oh and please think of someone other than
Marilyn Manson!! :-)

[email protected]

Alrighty, you heard her...send answers to her, NOT me. And if you'd like MY
opinion for your site, put Backstreet Boys! ~Lauren :o)

It's official now : Moon has been released in France !!!!!!!!! Finally !
Moreover I found a copy of the video collection in Germany !
So, Savage Garden are -finally- STARS here !!!
I can get a copy of Moon to everyone interested for $10 (shipping included)
let me know at : [email protected]
Visit also my site (coming slowly) if you wanna be linked to, e-mail me !
If you have any suggestion, pix you'd like to see added, let me know, too !

More from Sam...

Moon is available now and guess what ??? NOW they finally have LOTS OF albums
and there are even ads on the radio (RTL2) to promote it ! 2 years after it's
been released !!!! European are SNAILS !!! Grrrr... The new album is
pratically coming, but NO, European just discover the 1st one....
So I guess, they'll discover the 2nd in ... 2001 or 2002 ! LOL And I found
something else out : French pretend to have their TMD single with 14 tracks
and lives, but in fact that's just the Japanese one !!! At the FNAC (a French
big CD seller) you'd pay about 250 FF for it whereas on the Internet you can
get it for what ? about 120 FF (if I'm right). But still no sign of the video
in France (except at the Virgin megastores, but I think that's the only
exception there)... Otherwise Moon seems to do pretty well now (the cover is
the same as the UK's rerelease). And I was offered a CD from HongKong and
guess what ?! Truly is on it !!!!
Great, or ?
Congrats guys for your worldwide success !!!!!
And congrats to you, Lauren, for the good work on the newsletter... I think
I'm saying this everytime I'm writing to you, or ? Anyway, I do believe in
each word I'm typing... LOL
Catch you ALL next week for more NEWS...

[email protected]

Wow, I'm offended! Why didn't America get a new "Moon" single to buy?!
Everyone else did!!!! ~Lauren :o)

**I've decided to completely re-do the Savage Gardener address book that I
have, but I'll only need to do this if someone who has an internet email
address lets me know something. Alrighty, for the people who have AOL, you'll
see the different sized font and colors. I know the internet people can't see
it, but I'm wondering if you see a bunch of weird things like  <j> FONT COLOR
%FEFEFEFE that. If so, I'm going to send out two copies of the SGer every week
- one to the AOL people, and one to the internet people. I'm doing this
because it seems to me like it'd be a pain to have all that junk in there! So
let me know if that's what you internet people see!

Also regarding the above subject!!

You all know about AOL cutting off some of my email to internet users (most
specifically, Sarah!), so I forwarded last week's SGer to my Hotmail address
to see what internet users see. I didn't see any of that weird stuff, but I
did notice that it's spaced weird and things like that. And I know that I
personally  couldn't tolerate reading something jumbled like that - I'd
probably delete it! So anyhoo, the SGer will be getting a makeover for you
internet people. I'm sorry - I never realized how it was until now!

**A Savage Garden fan turned 17 today (Thursday)! Andrea
([email protected]) would like to wish her best friend Kerry
([email protected]) a Happy Savage Birthday! Happy Birthday Kerry, and best
wishes for a great year ahead!!

That's it for this week! One more final left!

Peace, love, and Savage Garden!
