Woooo, go me!! I'm finally OFFICIAL!! My Fanzine stuff came on Monday and  on
Tuesday at school I flashed my membership card to everyone and screamed "I'M
OFFICIAL!!" to them all! I waited an entire year for that day! The reason I
only now was able to join the Fanzine is because it took me months to save up
for the concert and for merchandise money, and I have been broke ever since!!
So thanks to dear Mommy for joining me for my birthday! Alrighty, you go read

**CONGRATULATIONS, SAVAGE GARDEN!!!!!!! Darren and Daniel took the ARIAs home
for Highest Selling Album and Best Achievement!!!! And considering these
awards are for the same album that swept the awards show LAST year, that's
incredible!! Way to go, Darren and Daniel!! We're so proud of you!!!!!!!

**More MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR news for Darren and Daniel! "Truly" was named the
most played song on American radio in the past 5 years, followed by fellow
Aussie Natalie Imbruglia at #2!!

**Hey New Yorkers, if you're walking around New York City and happen to see a
guy that looks exactly like Darren, it probably is. Daz has made NYC his new
home base, however he's staying in Australia for a while to work with Daniel
on new songs. Somebody please tell me that even with Daniel on the other side
of the world, we won't have to say goodbye to Savage Garden soon. Pleeeeease
tell me I'm worried over nothing!

**Alrighty, concerning my question last week about how a lot of people don't
realize that the band that sang "I Want You" is the same band that sings
"Truly Madly Deeply", I received a lot of replies that said they think it's a
compliment when people don't realize that. In fact, I whole-heartedly agree!!
Why? Because it shows that Darren and Daniel actually have variation in their
music, something I haven't heard in a loooong time. Take for instance, Sarah
McLachlan. I LOVE her CD, but I can't listen to it for too long because it
gets, well...boring. All her songs sound the same, so I get sort of tired of
it after a while. But with Savage Garden I can listen to that CD over and over
and over even after a year and a half of owning it because every single song
is different. So when people don't realize they're the same band (such as
Rosie O'Donnell!! She's the perfect example!), I consider it a MAJOR
compliment and one of the best anyone can give a band!!

**Billboard stats! The most played song in American radio in the past 5 years
has jumped up 2 spots to #27, while the album also jumps up to #64 in its
79th(!) week on the Billboard charts.

Also....I have to say...first of all...I love the newsletter and: My dad (what
an amazing person) and I were having a conversation today about music and how
it's just phenomonal how it effects human beings and we got to talking about
how it creates moods. While he was talking about that he said a quote that I
have decided to live by: (well..maybe)  Music soothes the savage beast. And I
have to agree with him on that one. I mean..think about it...isn't it amazing
that if you hold a baby up by the arms and then start some music that it
starts...almost dancing or moving to the music? Just look at what power it has
over us! Maybe I'm just insane, but I find that truly amazing!

I'm glad you enjoy the newsletter and I think you and your dad are absolutely
right. When I was a baby I would get up in my crib and shake my diaper to that
song "Man Eater" and I was un petit diable ("a little devil" in French!)!! And
to calm my dog down, I actually sing bits of "Truly" to her and she starts
wagging her tail and lays down. It's really amazing what music does,

I'm from the UK, and I'm just writing to congratulate you on the good work.
Over here Savage Garden is barley seen in the magazines, I only have a few
pictures and interviews, but I think that 'The Savage Gardener' makes up for
that. The only songs which have mainly been heard in the charts are 'TTMAB',
'TMD' and 'I want you' along with their album, also I have never seen them do
guest apperances on the TV, apart from TOTP (music chart show), so if you or
anyone knows when they will be appearing on the box over here in England,
please let me know.

 Hey there Lauren!! I was reading the Savage Gardener #64 and read the part
about CA being Savage Garden fan, Well where I live, most of the radio
stations down here play bunch of Savage Garden!! Of course they play "To the
moon and Back" but they also still play Truly, Madly, Deeply and the DJ's
always supports Savage Garden, they were kind of sad that they didnt come down
here for the To the Moon and Back tour and they dont call in anymore (Because
Savage Garden's first US radio interview was down here) but a lots of people
call in and request their awesome songs. Well that was my comment on that.

Also, I heard a rumor that Hanson likes Savage Garden, when they were in
Australia, they got to choose like 5 CD's and one of them was Savage Garden.

Since you're in San Diego, we're both in southern Cali so I'm not surprised
that they get a lot of support there as they do here. If you really think
about it, they haven't gotten NEARLY as much criticism as most other bands do.
I personally look through tons of things online such as CD reviews, message
boards, etc., and there are hardly any criticism from people on the message
boards I've visited. And as for reviews, Billboard magazine called it an
"outstanding debut album", and I've often read how Savage Garden have what it
takes to be around for a long time. And as for the Hanson boys, I actually

The other day while I was buying the Savage Garden video my mom started to
have a conversation with the sales clerk because he said how he liked their
music or something so she said how we went to the concert when they were at
the Beacon Theatre.  This guy went on to tell my mom that he was in a band and
had opened for Savage Garden, I was like "yeah right".  He went on to say how
they were all really nice and all, but really I have no idea weather to
believe him or not.  i'm going more towards the not, though it would be really
interesting if he did.

I just thought you might like to know that little bit, and about the magazine
withthte articale on the earring, it was Bop I think, but it sucked cause it
said Darren was turning 25 and Daniel was 26.  They really messed up badly
then in the next month I saw the same article but the only difference was that
they actually corrected their mistakes and it made sense to true fans.

Anyway I just wanna say that your news letter is actually one of the only
Emails I do look forward to, much more interesting and informative than the
stupid Fwds people send.  Keep up the good work.

Savage Spotting!! While watching BCTV news at aroung 6:15 pm (PT) on Monday,
Oct. 19, I heard To the Moon and Back playing in the backround while someone
was talking about Ally McBeal in jail for wearing a really short skirt in
court, and also the new fashion trend of long skirts. I jumped when I heard
it!! Face it: Savage Garden is everywhere. : ) I also heard I Want You while
in a shoestore a while ago, and then I think I heard another one of their
songs being played on the radio in another store months later. On a Sabrina
the Teenage Witch episode they danced to Truly Madly Deeply at the end!! Even
the captioning wrote, "playing 'Truly Madly Deeply' "!! Has anyone else heard
SvGd in a public place or on TV (besides vids, live performances and
interviews)? Do tell!!

Oh wow, I know lots of TV shows where they've used an SG song!! Let's
see..."Dawson's Creek" (twice!!), a soap opera which used "A Thousand Words",
MTV's "Real World" used "I Want You", and I know there are more that I can't

**A Savage mystery has come about!!!! If you have the Japanese "Truly" CD or
the American "Moon" remix CD, check out the remix called Hani's Num Radio
Edit. The mystery is what that robotic voice at the beginning of the song
says!! This has been bothering [email protected] and me for a few days now
since she first brought it up to me! I hear the word "scratch", but
considering it took me forever to figure out where that "I love you" in
"Truly" was, don't count on me being right!

**Here's an update on the whole Mine petition thing: it actually came back in
the mail because supposedly that address doesn't exist (it's there, I swear -

send it to their US management and see what they could do with it.
