The Savage Gardener #44

Hallo out there in Savage Land! Hope all is well with each of you.  Anyhoo,
I've been getting emails about whether or not I've gotten any replies about
the birthday wishes and I'd just like to say that if I do get a reply, it will
most likely take a while. But if I do get anything, I'll let you all know
ASAP!!

**I have news regarding the release of BMSM in the U.S. It's apparently been
put on hold because of the re-release of TTMAB. It looks like TTMAB is going
to come first. BMSM has been released in Canada, however, so that's why you
Canadian fans do have it! I'll let you know when BMSM will be released
indefinitely in the U.S.!

**This week's Billboard stats: Truly is still at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100
while the album has dropped back to #12, its first week out of the Top 10 in
almost 4 months. Oh well, we're still very proud of their success!

**There's a possibility of a Future of Earthly Delites Tour video making its
way to store shelves!! More info if this is definite!!

**Reportedly, there will be no more singles released in Australia until the
new album comes out in early '99. Darren said he thinks Australia is sick of
them and they should share themselves with the rest of the year. For Aussie
fans, have no fear! Think of them as a television show on repeat
season...you'll be hearing old songs on the radio, but get ready for them to
be back soon enough!

**Some news from Sarah about the APRA awards:

Waking up just before my alarm this morning, I rolled over and flicked on
the radio which was beckoning *L*.  According to B105's 7am news, Savage
Garden won Songwriters of the Year (yay) and IWY won most played overseas
song.  I can't believe neither Truly nor Moon got song of the year (out of
interest 'Only When I'm Sleeping' by Leonardo's Bride won song of the year) -
I'd better not start raving about this *L*, but, as nice as it would have been
for a repeat of the ARIAs, I'd say the songwriting award would mean more
tothem 'cause that's where their brains and a vast majority of their talent
come from - to give us that originality and excellence that we're now addicted
to :)

Thanks, Sarah! I, too, would have liked to see a repeat of the ARIAs, but I'm
glad they got Songwriters of the Year!! That's an extraordinary win!!!
Congratulations, Darren and Daniel!!

**Truly has dropped back to #3 on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. It's been in
the top 5 for quite a few months now and it keeps going!

**A fun little ditty just for your own entertainment: Norman Mailer (mentioned
in Santa Monica and also subject of a past trivia question) is writing a TV
movie on the O.J. Simpson trial. Just thought this was a nice little piece of
info for ya!

**Tonight was the last episode of Seinfeld, Darren and Daniel's favorite TV
show. They're most likely delayed in Australia, so they probably won't see it
for a couple more months!

                                        Savage Trivia

Last week's trivia question was: what music video by what group inspired the
music vid for Truly Madly Deeply? The answer was Bitter Sweet Symphony by the
Verve. Congrats to those who got it right:

This week's trivia quessie is: what is the painting inside the Savage Garden

Hey Lauren!
I noticed in your newsletter you said that the trip to Australia is this
summer.  Actually, it's next summer ('99).  I just thought I'd correct you on
that.  But anyway, keep up the great work and Happy Birthday to
Daz!!!.....AGAIN!!!!!

Thanks for the correction! ~Lauren :o)

YOU'LL never believe this!
You all know how mad I am because the three possable dates I can go to my
FIRST Savage Garden concert I will be at camp, and how everyone makes fun of
me because I am so obsessed...
Well it just so happenes, that the radio station here Star 101.1 was having a
birthday bash concert and I went. One of the DJ's heard me almost crying to
one of my friends about the concert and he said "you know last year we
interviewed them on out station..." I was like "NO WAY!" hes like "yeah I
could get you a copy of the tape if you want, no big deal" I was like "MY
HERO!!" hehe
Anyways, hes really sweet and now every time they say something on the radio
about the Savage Garden concerts coming up they mention how their #1 fan in
Fresno cant go, and I've been sent stuff by other Savage Fans and promises to
get me pictures etc if they go to the concerts!
IS THAT NOT SO SWEET?
Anyways! I just wanted to shair the story of how one DJ made me missing the
concerts ALMOST ok, well less painful!

SavGarGrL

As I said in my email to you, that's just wonderful! You'll get a lovely taste
of what it was like. ~Lauren :o)
