The Savage Gardener #36
You are now reading the...<insert drumroll here> Savage Gardener!
I'm sure
you're all applauding right now, hehe. We are now up to 240 members
(I just
took the time to count!). I've had an interesting week cuz last Saturday
I was
able to meet some of the cast members and writers from my personal
fave TV
series, The X-Files, but I won't get into that cuz I'd be able to write
a
whole separate newsletter on that! So, let's begin the newsletter!

**Currently, Truly is #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album
is still
hanging onto #5 on the Billboard 200. It is also still hanging
on to #2 for
the fourth(?) consecutive week on the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. Wonderful
charting for a wonderful song!
**It's definite: the next Savage Garden single to be released here in
America
will be Break Me Shake Me, which will be released sometime in May or
June!!!
The boys have just finished shooting the music video last week in Sidney.
Can't wait for this one!
**The Blockbuster Awards will be re-airing on Saturday, March 21st.
The time
has not yet been decided, so check your TV Guides! Thanks to Violet4293
for
letting me know!! Note: it will be airing same day on VH1 at 9:00 pm.
Thanks
to Violet3019 for the info on the exact channel/time!
**Break Me Shake Me has already been released in Calgary, Canada (they
get
singles before the rest of the country) and it's doing really well!
It's won 5
nights in a row on the New Music show and continues to have great progress.
<rubs crystal ball> I see...another hit single for the Savage ones!
Well duh
me, anyone can see that! Thanks to K Luvs SG for the Canadian news!
**If you missed the SG appearance on Regis and Kathie Lee on Wednesday,
don't
worry unless you missed the first one...it was a repeat. If you did
miss the
first one, well, um...maybe they'll show it again sometime! :o)
**Looks like the people behind "Dawson's Creek" (that mega-controversial
new
TV series) love our boys! They first used I Want You in their second
episode
of the series, and now they used Truly in this past week's ep! A LOT
of
television series have been using their songs which is enourmous publicity!
Thanks to MDMDD for the info!

Savage Trivia
Wow!! A TON of you got last week's trivia question right! The question
was:
when Darren was in love with a girl from his French class he did something
every day only to find something out a year later. What did he do and
what did
he find out a year later? The answer was he walked by her house everyday
after
school for a year until he realized that she didn't live there! How
cute!!
Congrats to those who got it right (all 240,000,000,000,000,000,000
of you!):

Hey Lauren,
Well, I was browsing in a newsagent yesterday and picked up a
terrific addition to my collection - the so called 'official Savage
Garden
book'. It's sort of like a concert programme (speaking of which, we
didn't
have programmes at our concerts which was quite annoying - let me know
if you
guys get 'em).
Anyway, it contains some BEAUTIFUL behind the scenes pics plus some
great
things that Daz and Dan wrote for the mag/said in the interviews for
it. My
brother's computer is down, but as soon as he gets it going again I'll
have to
scan some pics - my God, you would go insane over this BEAUTIFUL photo
of Dan
sitting on a park bench patting this black dog. It's like he doesn't
know the
camera is there. I think it's an older pic 'cause he's got longer hair
but
it's brushed back. It's a very 'natural' photo but so... so... naturally
Daniel! There's another of the two of them at the '96 Arias - who would
have
thought that the next year they'd sweep that awards show away with
records
galore! Oh - the pic! Dan has his unreal smile and his hair is sorta
Leo like
:) Daz is also lookin' cute. Further on there are some
HOT photos of Daz
backstage preparing for the concert. These guys are gorgeous when they
don't
know the camera's on them!
OK, a correction to my review - I now have the name of the backing singer
who
I referred to in regard to her duet with Daz - Anna-Maria La Spina.
Oh and
listen to this - this has upset me as the Dan engagement thing did
you :) ...
Colby Hayes - Wardrobe Assistant to Darren; kinky or what??? augh!
damn lucky
girl. But at least we now know what your future occupation must be...
wardrobe
assistant to Dan - mmm!
"When I was ten I thought I was Michael Jackson. When I was 15
I was
running around the block rehearsing what an Oprah Winfrey interview
would be
like. I've been in preparation for this job all my life, and
it's exactly as
I imagined it would be, maybe because I invented it, you know." Daz
"It felt so right when Darren and I met and started talking about music.
To
me that was a point in my life where I felt, 'There's going to be a
change
here' and Darren has since said the same thing." Dan
"... it's fun to get up and play because I put on my Darren Hayes costume
and I become a pop star and I can do it. The lights go down at
the end of
the day and I go home and pat my dog." Daz
*on new album, due for release early 1999 (eek) *
"It's going to still be about plain old songs," says Daniel, "but the
technology that we're into at the moment ["U2, the Dust Brothers, the
Chemical Brothers and a lot of crossover electronic music"] will help
this
album. It'll be a cross between guitar/pop/alternative/dance/rock
and I'm
serious, I know exactly what I'm talking about when I'm saying that...
but
we still want the songs to be things you can play on the acoustic guitar.
I
don't want it to be an album lost in production." Dan
"This tour is Daniel and Darren's way of saying thank you to the fans
and a
chance for the band to restate the fact that they're performers as
well as
songwriters."
"The future is the single point in time that our imagination owns."
(isn't
that great??!) ... "Inside this place we're free to explore our needs
and
desires. We comfort ourselves the future will hold the answers
to the
problems that escape us. A shining perfect stainless steel world or
a grim
industrial reality? For Savage Garden the future is a bit of both."
Daz
"The Future Of Earthly Delites is Darren and Daniel as the band they
always
wanted you to see... A hyperbole of film, theatre, console games and
music
video is experienced within the context of their live concert." Daz
phew - you're gonna have a lot of material to work with for your upcoming
newsletter(s)! *sorry* :) Hope you like!
Thanks TONS to Sarah for typing this up for us!

**I often get chain letters from people on the member list and I have
to ask
you to please not send them to me anymore. I get lots of mail now since
taking
over the SGer and I'd like to keep it as minimum as I can by trying
to reduce
the amount of chain letters I get. Thanks!
**Some interesting facts about Darren and Daniel told to me by Sarah!
She says
that when Darren was little, he used to wash the dishes acting like
C3PO from
his childhood obsession, Star Wars. LOL!! And a couple of years ago,
Daniel
wrote on a piece of paper, "I, Daniel Jones, will be an international
superstar by 1997". Then he crushed up the paper and threw it behind
a filing
cabinet! Hmm...an eerie coincidence <spooky X-Files music> or should
Dan
really join the Psychic Friends Network? Naaa, I think he should just
stick
with Savage Garden (though the PFN would make a million dollars just
from me
alone calling them!)!
That's it for this week's Savage Gardener! Stay Savage and keep on Gardening!
Peace, love, and Savage Garden!
