**Savage Garden's Future of Earthly Delites tour kicked off last Thursday!
If
any of you are Australians and will be going to one of their concerts,
let us
know all about it! And American fans, Daz and Dan will definitely be
arriving
early summer! Watch out for ticket sales appearing within the next
month or
so!
**I just got back from watching the press conference Daz and Dan held!
It was
awesome! They talked about many different things, from their favorite
music,
to what they did before meeting, and basically things I'm sure you
all know.
However, when asked what their future goals for Savage Garden is, Darren
specifically said that he didn't quite understand why bands break up.
And he
thinks that what could happen to SG is they take a sort of hiatus,
then return
to each other. That's great news for those already fearing a breakup!!
They
expressed their admiration for each other and said there's no one else
they'd
rather work with. Isn't that sweet?
**"Truly" jumped to #2 on VH1's Top Ten Countdown this past week and
will
probably take over Smash Mouth's "Walkin' On the Sun" tomorrow when
the new
countdown is played, or in the next couple weeks. It's stayed at #4
on the
Billboard Hot 100 (Janet Jackson dropped from #1, ha ha! Sorry to all
Janet
fans...) and the album jumped to #7 on the Billboard 200!! This is
surely a
band with a bright future ahead!

Romantic
Song of 1997!! Winners will be announced Wednesday, February 11th.

Savage Trivia
Last week's trivia question was: "What was Darren going to be before
meeting
Daniel and forming Savage Garden?" The answer is: a teacher. And, as
SG83JP
put it: "he also met The Evil Cheese while going to school too", LOL!
Some
people guessed child care or something like that and since kindergarten
is
basically that, I'll count that as the right answer. It must have been
easy;
lots of people got it right! Congrats to:

This week's trivia question: In an interview with a radio station in
America,
the deejays were asking Darren and Daniel about their feelings of the
death of
Michael Hutchence, the lead singer of INXS who committed suicide. The
Savaged
Ones told the deejays that they had a chance to play with INXS before
Michael's death. The deejays then told them some info about the concert
they
played together that surprised and shocked Daz and Dan. What was it?
(Hint:
this conversation can be found off of a website).

**Many thanks to [email protected] for typing up an article in the Singapore
magazine LIME! Here's the article:
FAME&FORTUNE
Dan:The best thing about fame is travelling all over the world &
experiencing different things. There is this small forest-like place
in
Germany that's beautiful, somewhat surreal with strange flowers &
the
best scenery in the world. & people are so friendly when they recognise
us, they'd just walk up to us in the streets & say "hi".
Daz:We've seen the whole world like, a few times over, except Africa,
which we haven't stepped foot on yet. I love New York City best. We
used
to send postcards to just about everyone we knew when we first started
travelling. We hardly do that now.
Dan:& I'm starting a collection of little souvenirs from places
we
visit. Too bad I didn't start earlier.
FAMOUS PEOPLE & THEIR HANG-UPS
Daz:Oh, we don't have any hang-ups, we're too nice! We're pretty normal
people . The best "Star Treatment" we received was in Taiwan.
Dan:Oh yeah, we had two personal servants who were with us like,24
hours
round the clock. They stand outside our door. Everytime we leave the
room, the'd pop in & tidy up, fluff up the cushions & straighten
the
table cloth just right. We didn't feel very comfortable.
Daz:We used to peep at them through the keyhole. Every time we open
the
door, they'd stand to attention & ask if we need anything. &
they follow
us wherever we go. We kept telling the hotel we didn't need prsonal
servants but they insisted on providing us with the service!
SHOPPING
Daz:We shop, oh yes! I love spending money. it's not so much spending
a
lot of money, but spending lots of money on something totally not worth
it. I bought silk sheets that cost $1,000! Generally, I have expensive
tastes. I usually spend on dinners & going to clubs. In Singpore
I
bought CDs, a T-shirt, these socks,(sticks out his feet) & deodorant.
Oh, & I have this thing about sunglasses. I've got four pairs of
really
nice ones.
Dan:Once, I bought this T-shirt with six eyes on it. It looked horrible
& I paid US$600 for it!
BEING AUSSIES
Daz:The enviroment is just beautiful & we have so much space to
grow.
We're lucky to have the kind of chances Australia gives us.
Dan:I think the platypus best describes the Australian's versatile
lifestyle. The platypus is our national animal. It's furry, has little
webbed feet & can live in both water & on land.
CRYING
Daz:The last time I cried was when I watched JERRY MAGUIRE. It's such
as
honest film. I think we should always tell people we love them,
you
never know what's going to happen.
Dan:& I cried when I watched TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY. Yeah,
I
also cried when my dogs died.
TEENAGE YEARS
Daz:oh, we were hunks, definitely! (Both burst into fits of laughter)
Dan:I was rather sporty so I probably fit into the hunk image more!
&
then I got more involved in music, so I sort of dropped sports a little.
Daz:Uh...I was a happy little freak. I'd be lost in my imagination
all
the time, creating little fantasies. I didn't stop till I was 12. I
used
to put on lots of plays & was really into musicals at school.
VAMPIRES & OTHER SPOOKY BEINGS
Daz:When I was a kid, I'd look for pixies & fairies in my garden.
I want
ET to come to my house & visit. I belive in the supernatural &
unexplained, but not in vampires. It's pretty scary to think there're
creatures out there going around sucking our blood. No, I don't think
I'm morbid just because I'm obsessed with Ann Rice's vampire novels.
They're pretty erotic, I think! Yeah, maybe that's why I read them.
Dan:Once I spoke to a pilot who has been flying for 25 years. You'd
be
surprised at the kind of things he sees & hears. I don't want to
disbelieve anything just because I haven't experienced then personally.
CHRISTMAS
Dan:I remember my best christmas. I was seven that year. My two brothers
& I wake up on christmas morning & rushed to the tree but there
weren't
any presents under it. We were so disappointed. Then our parents showed
us the BMX bikes they'd locked in the room downstairs. We spent
Christmas morning cycling all over town!
Daz:My best Christmas was when I was about eight years old. We were
quite poor & all year round, Mum kept telling me that we won't
have any
money to celebrate Christmas. I'm a huge Star Wars fan. & when
I woke up
that morning & looked under the tree, mum had bought me every Star
Wars
figurine there was. We were really poor then & she spent
all that money
on me! I've always wanted to go carolling but the trouble with living
in
a tropical country is you just don't have the mood to go lah lah
lah...you'll sweat your brains out!
