The Savage Gardener #117
Well, I'm so thrilled you enjoyed the Savage Song Awards! I got quite
a few
letters regarding our "show", some of which you'll read in this issue.
It
took a ton of work, but it was more than worth it, judging by your
reactions!
And one more big THANK YOU to the 24 people who wrote up fantastic
speeches
for the show! I can't thank you guys enough! I also have another little
treat
for you wonderful people out there. Tammy, the official Savage Song
Awards
reporter, did a great little "behind the scenes" of the show. This
was
inspired by [email protected], who sent a note after the SSAs asking
when
we'd see the behind the scenes special. So thanks for the terrific
idea, Kaz!
Tammy has interviews with the presenters, fans in the audience, and
me, too.
You'll be able to "watch" them next week! In other news, I was rocked
by
another earthquake on Monday! This is getting scary...3 noticeable
earthquakes in less than 5 months. My mom's convinced the world's going
to
end. It better not until AFTER the "Affirmation" World Tour is over
(I could
just say until after Savage Garden performs here, but since I'm nice
I'll
wait until all of you have seen it!). Ok, let's get on with the newsletter!

**For those who are really surprised at the whole Darren's-crush-on-Britney
thing, here's an email from [email protected], who saw this
actual
interview take place, and here's her comments:
"Yeah, i saw this one too and I couldn't believe he was serious. I think
he
was just making a mockery of the whole thing since he had the
"wink wink
nudge nudge" kind of a face turned sideways...well, he was looking
at the
camera through the corners of his eyes so I'm sure he's just kidding!!
ANYWAY, THAT'S WHAT I KEEP TELLING MYSELF to avoid any disillusions."
So anyhoo, draw your own conclusions!
**More info re: tour ticket prices FOR AUSTRALIA ONLY! This info is
from
[email protected], so thanks a bunch Valerie! Anyhoo, the tickets
range from
$48 and up (I believe this would be Australian dollars). Val says it
seems
like they're doubled from the last tour, and I hope this doesn't mean
the
U.S. tickets will double too! Also, Val emailed the Fanzine and the
next one
should be out in April with a complete listing of all tour dates. They
sure
owe it to us for having the latest Fanzine be so late! Anyhoo, thanks
again
to Valerie for all this info!
**There's a correction for the "Affirmation" World Tour Dates (AUSTRALIA
ONLY). Tickets for ALL Australian shows go on sale Tuesday the 14th.
Again,
tickets are around $48. Thanks to our webmistress Sarah for all the
details
on the Aussie branch of the tour!
**Darren is featured in the April issue of Teen People in the Star Woes
(embarrassing moments) section. It's the story of him falling off stage
at
the Brisbane concert. As some may recall, he was in the Star Woes section
about a year ago for walking into a glass door! Our Darren sure is
a klutz!
**There will be a live webcast with Savage Garden on Friday, March 24th
from
10am to noon. Check out www.savagegarden.com that day to get connected
unless
you're at SCHOOL like ME! Grrrrrr!!
**Keep an eye open for the new "Crash and Burn" video! It's already
being
seen in the UK, so the rest of the world (the ones getting "Crash"
as a
single, anyway) should be seeing it anytime now. As of yet there's
no info on
an official premiere on MTV or VH1, but if there is going to be one,
then I'd
expect the news to come soon.
**"Affirmation" drops back to #33 on the Billboard chart this week,
while "I
Knew I Loved You" drops back to #8.

Wow, Lauren, this year's awards were even better than last year's!
They are
(as always) sooooo entertaining. I couldn't stop laughing.
I especially
loved the part with Scully, Mulder, and Krycek :):):) Now why
couldn't the
Grammies be this good? Perhaps because they lack the main ingredient
--
Savage Garden -- and they didn't even use the X-Files to spice it up.
(Although I hear that David Duchovny did present with that darn Jennifer
Lopez, who only wore half a dress anyway). It's too bad Darren
and Daniel
can't read this themselves, they certainly would be proud (it's much
more
worthy of their viewing time than BBS posts on Dan's feet and Daz's
butt)!
OH, and you even managed to play some entertaining commercials.
Pets.com, I
love that! :) And everyone needs a chocolate break, right? ;)

Hey Lauren, I'd just like to say that I really enjoyed the Savage Song
Awards! It's so cool how you came up with an idea to do the awards
in an
awards show format. Very spiffy!! :) I love it! And
I found the show very
funny. I was laughing so much that my brother thought I was gonna
suffocate!
Also, I'd just like to say that all the presentors were awesome
and they
wrote great speeches. :)
Thank you so much, Lauren, for putting your time in to do the Savage
Gardener
and putting the awards together for us fellow fans. Your time
and dedication
mean so much to us. Your the best!

WOW!! I am just completely blown away!!! You did an absolutely
AMAZING job
on the Savage Songs Awards!! I was cracking up SO much, my brother
wanted to
know what was so funny! ( I told him he wouldn't understand!) Anyway,
it made
me wish that they could happen more often, because it was just so
entertaining! (Better than any other awards show! Well...unless Darren
and
Daniel are actually appearing on one...LOL!) It was well worth the
wait! I'm
sure that your mailbox will be flooded with love notes and fan mail
about it
all! :o)

I try to update it as often as possible. And please, feel free to e-mail
me
with your comments if you have any! So if you wanna see it, please,

Savage Classifieds
I'm looking for the U.S. I Want You single. My brother recently broke
mine in
half as a form of rage, and I REALLY want another. I bought mine last
year
for about $3 and I'm looking for a somewhat cheap one. Also a tape
of S.G.
performances/appearances including the Rosie O Donell Christmas Special
(I'm
pretty positive it was her) and a tour shirt (my mom decided to let
my
brother do the laundry for the 1st time without help, well woohoo,
it turned
bright green and shrunk).
Thankx!!

Are you looking for a tape of a performance, a CD, posters, or anything
else
Savage-related? If so, put an ad in the new section - Savage Classifieds.
This is for any kind of merchandise for Savage Garden that you're looking
for
or selling. You can put an ad in if you're looking for something, selling
something, or looking to trade something.
Remember, if you want to respond to an ad, email the person who placed
it
(their email address will always be included), not me.

**Ok, I'm sitting here updating the SGer and the TV's on and there were
just
2 commercials for KOST, a reeeeeeeeeeeeeally soft rock (think: love
songs)
radio station that is mainly listened to by older people. Anyway, on
their
first ad, they played "Truly Madly Deeply", and on the second one they
played
"To the Moon and Back". Just a random piece of information that I was
excited
about.
**I know this'll get more than a few of you to the toy store after you
read
this!! Ty (you know, the Beanie Babies manufacturer) has a new stuffed
toy in
their line called Attic Treasures. I'm not quite sure what it is, as
my
friend Tammy put it: "scrawny looking, peach colored, and looks like
it's
half bear-half mouse". That works! Anyway, lots of people will go get
it
because its name is Hayes!!!! How cute?! If they come out with one
named
Jonesy I'll just die!!! Ha ha!! Thanks to [email protected] for the
info!
**Ok, so I'm curious...what song off "Affirmation" do you think should
NOT be
released as a single whatsoever? The one song that should never ever
be even
considered as a commercial single? For me, I'm saying "I Don't Know
You
Anymore" because it's, as Darren said, the most personal song on the
record.
If I were Darren, it'd definitely be the last song I'd ever consider
because
of who/what it's about, and I wouldn't be too into having that sad
a personal
subject being played on the radio. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Alrighty, that's it for this week. Stay tuned for the Behind the Scenes
at
the Savage Song Awards show coming up next week after the SGer is sent
out. A
major thanks again to everyone who was involved in making the awards
a huge
success! If you're a new subscriber who has NO idea what I'm talking
about,
email me for an explanation and copy of the awards show. Ok, that's
all. Bye
bye!
Peace, love, and Savage Garden!

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Darren Hayes and/or Daniel Jones. I wish I
did, but
since slavery isn't legal in the U.S. anymore, I'm outta luck. I make
no
money for the "publication" of this newsletter, so if you're a nasty
big
company like that dumb Hit Records, don't waste your time suing me
(especially since you're probably trying to get a chunk of Savage's
earnings,
anyway). My family gets a big laugh everytime my bank statement
arrives.
Besides, my life savings consist of $2.54. The program you have just
watched
contains real-life stories. The names have been changed to protect
the
innocent. Is that your final answer?
